What is AIR?
Algorithmic Immersion Radicalisation is a proposed pathway framework for examining how repeated and curated digital exposure may interact with grievance, identity, ideology and offline conditions. It is not a claim that an algorithm alone causes violence.
Does the Observatory predict who will become violent?
No. The case and context tools describe recorded patterns. Test Yourself is an educational self-assessment, not a clinical, radicalisation, threat or risk instrument.
Are missing values treated as zero?
No. Missing, unavailable, suppressed and non-comparable values remain distinct from zero.
Why can two sources disagree?
Definitions, age bands, denominators, years, survey questions and recording practices can differ. Evidence Quality and source notes identify material limitations.
Does Test Yourself collect my answers?
No. The assessment runs in your browser. Answers and personal results are not transmitted to or stored by the Observatory.
Why are event milestones shown?
They support discussion of timing and possible mechanisms. They are not presented as proof that an event caused a change.
How can instructors use the site?
Ask students to compare raw counts with rates, identify a plausible confounder, examine whether an age band is genuinely comparable, or explain what a chart shows and what it cannot prove.
Can I cite a filtered analysis?
Yes. Analytical pages provide a generated citation containing the active release, filters and access date.
